Mumbai—a palate’s best friend

If you are a foodie, Mumbai is the place to be. With a cuisine culture hard to match, it is bound to leave you spoilt for choice. Mumbai’s cosmopolitan effect is hard to match, and the best restaurants in Mumbai make the most of it.

From local favourites’ vada and samosa paav’ served with a tangy dose of ‘chatni’ to indigenous South and North Indian cuisines, Mumbai is a place that keeps your palate in good spirits, always.
The city’s food culture, made distinct as much by the range of cuisines as how it is served across, is a mixed bag of the most relished flavours in the country—Gujarat, Punjab, Kerala, Rajasthan, and more. So, your daily fill can be anything from a tangy south Indian curry to something sweet-and-sour from Gujrat or anything picked out randomly from a cuisine known for its richness, Punjab to the simple and savoury Maharastrian cuisine.

And if you think getting a range of food that wide is going to be a drill of a kind, drop the thought. Mumbai is easy to find food and some of the best restaurants in mumbai are one-stop dining hubs housing multiple cuisines under one roof.

Another flavour very distinctly ‘Mumbai’ makes the most popular beverage of the country, tea. Mumbai tea is a whole lot different with a blend of raw garlic and strong open -face cooking. Served piping hot in lined glass tumblers, it is the perfect breakaway on a long working day.

Just like Mumbai, Delhi has made certain foods very much its own. A burger in delhi works anytime, what with different local spins to it. Between locations, a burger in Delhi can go from being delightfully cheesy and savoury to fiery hot and spicy, and everything in between.

A Smoked Lamb Burger is a Day’s Worth

The juiciest bite on a stretched out day can be nothing other than something filling and easy to find. And what more for that than a nice fluffed up burger! It’s not for nothing that the burger tops everything else listed down as convenience foods. And if you can get to lay your hands on one of the smoked lamb burger at Smoke House Deli—voila!

smoked lamb burger

Count yourself blessed if you were at this very chic snack bar restaurant in hauz khas last week when the ‘mmmBurger festival’ was on. There is nothing than can come close to defining the whole experience except—I want to be there again, and then again!

It’s their innovations that make the place truly a ‘mouthful’. By putting some thinking behind it, Smoke House Deli has beautifully worked putting a spin to its a la carte. What really had me drooling over were the Beer and Cheese burger and the fish chips burger; the winners of the day! I must confess here that the Smoked Chicken and Tequila Burger along with the Spicy Soya Chunks and Spinach Burger looked irresistible on the spread—only if I my stomach could go that far.

Burgers in itself can be a crowd puller, but with complimentary beverages, there’s no ‘saying no’. That’s perhaps why I was left with a wanting for more when I got my drinks complimentary against my meal. And that goes all through the weekdays!

The Lounge Bar Restaurants are the in-thing

Found in the heart of the busy alleys of South Delhi's stylish and rustic Hauz Khas Village, the gastronomic fanatics of the city are set to sample the range of appetizers, cuisines and beverages in some of the many Lounge and Bars that dot this place.

Smoke House deli :- best restaurants in bangalore
The place intends to satisfy all foodies, sports enthusiasts and evening revelers. Being compelled to repay the extremely adaptable feel of the flooring space, restaurants in Hauz Khas feature both indoor & open air areas that boasts of simple decoration to highlight the venue's selling points and delightfully stirring and reassuring culinary encounters, while being attached with the open bar.

The restaurants in Hauz Khas sure take their meals seriously so if you are a food aficionado, get ready to get pampered with a variety from an all-embracing combination of food selection that takes diners on a hearty travel through the culinary world of comfort eating, while languorously watching out onto the lavish environments that act as a backdrop for those seated outdoors or at the open terraces.

The sports Lounge and Bar in Hauz Khas is famous and this is where you can hang out with your pals over pool, while checking out a match on any one of the two oversized projector wall surfaces. You can order a scrumptious smoked lamb burger, or a few seafood platters to fill your appetizer. For the night owls of the city, make certain to pre-book so as to enjoy the best live performances from a few of the leading DJs to a smattering of talented Magicians.

For cocktail lovers, here is what you can choose to accompany your smoked lamb burger, or kebab platter. One of my favorites is the Bourbon Crusher. This is exactly what Monica of the ‘Friends’ fame would love to have. A few ml of scotch with a dip of lemon juice tastes sophisticated!

Well, even for alcohol lovers, the bourbon crusher is a must-try as it overshadows the various other elements but leaves behind a fresh lime and orange twist that is simply addictive. If you are into the smooth kind of cocktails, opt for the vodka based one which is definitely refreshing and fruity.

A Moment with the most important person

restaurants in mumbai
I have made a mistake that most men make. I was entangled in my own frustrations and vented it out on my wife. However, we keep doing it all along, and women do this as well, so it’s kind of a give-and-take thing amongst spouses.  Well, there is a reason why I was so touched this particular time.

After my wife despised the Valentine’s Day, and stated it was useless, I was transported back to the days when we used to date and were studying in Mumbai. As memories came back, I realized, ever since our teenage, we used to have the same dish at one of the best restaurants in mumbai, along with a mango pickle. We always used to laugh at the crazy combination but that’s how I loved it.

Today, as now I notice, it must have been quite an effort for her to cook it at home. ‘God could she even cook one, she had never made one before’ I thought to myself as it dawned upon me that she tried the recipe for the first time only for me, at this occasion. Ashamed at my own behavior I rushed back and apologized, only to find that the smoked lamb burger was in the bin and she was in the middle of tears.

Well, whatever was done was unchangeable but I managed to woo her back to the pleasant smile she had. At that moment I realized I had the most gorgeous woman as my wife, and I should have been celebrating the fact.

But as we say, it’s never too late. As I write this blog, we are sitting at the Hauz Khas outlet that we passed, enjoying our burger in delhi. Though, the place is changed but our love is the same as it used to be, only a bit more mature and responsible. She smiles at me, suggesting edits here and there. She is intent on proving that I was far ruder than you would think after reading this, but I suppose I have made my point.

This was my moment of rediscovering our love. Perhaps you shouldn’t weight for one, and appreciate your better half, now and today. He/she is the one who has always been there for you, so celebrate your bond. Worry not, you need not wait for a Valentine’s Day to do that, in fact a random surprise makes it even more special for them.
